2021 SINGLES

Margaret Smith wins back to back Singles titles, making a total of five since 2013

The 2021 State Singles at District level were played from 8th to 10th March.  51 entries were received for this event.  Venues used were  Ettalong Memorial, Munmorah Utd, Terrigal and Wyong clubs with the Semi-final and Final played at Bateau Bay.  It was great to see so many ladies contest this event.

Quarter Finals:

Lisa Caswell (Bateau Bay) def. Karen Croker (Ettalong Mem.)

Anastasia(Tess) Koutsellis (Ettalong Mem.) def. Dianne Chalkin (Bateau Bay)

Judith Wheatley (Wyong) def. Heather McColl (Gosford City)

Margaret Smith (Ettalong Mem.) def. Helen Cruden (Gosford City)

In the semi-finals      Great bowling from all players was witnessed.

Tess Koutsellis def. Lisa Caswell;       Margaret Smith def. Judith Wheatley.    Well done to all these ladies.

It then turned out to be an all Ettalong final and was a very closely fought match.   The lead changed several times and the score was level numerous times.  Just when it looked like one player was going ahead the other would catch up.  Eventually Tess and Margaret were level at 24.  In a very exciting final end it came down to the last 2 bowls to decide the eventual winner.    Margaret 25,   Tess 24.    What a great game it was to watch.    Congratulations to both players.

Margaret will now proceed to the Region 6 Championship playoffs to be held in the Lake Macquarie District on 18th July.
