2023-2024 Pairs & Senior Pairs

The 2023-2024 State Pairs and Senior Pairs at District level were played Monday 30th & Tuesday 31st October with the finals being played on Wednesday 1st November. Thanks to Bateau Bay, Canton Beach, Ettalong, Everglades,Gwandalan and Wyong for hosting play on Monday and Tuesday. Thanks to Ourimbah-Lisarow for hosting the finals on the Wednesday. We had good weather throughout the 3 days, however the gusty conditions on Tuesday certainly tested the player.

Semi-Finals:

Sandra Anderson, Heather McColl (Gosford City) def Pamela Donnelly, Rhonda Keenan (Ettalong Mem)

Vicki Moseley, Connie Goddard (Munmorah Utd) def Lynn Farah, Julie Cox (Bateau Bay) 

FINAL:    Sandra & Heather versus Vicki & Connie.   The ladies from Munmorah started off well with the Gosford pair catching up but Vicki & Connie continued to dominate play for most of the match coming out the eventual winners.   Congratulations to all 4 players for reaching the final and well done to Vicki & Connie who now proceed to play against Lake Macquarie District winners in the Region 6 playoffs to be held at Charlestown on Sunday 26th & Monday 27th October.  (Draw yet to be done)

SENIOR PAIRS

Semi-Finals:

Carol Russell, Susan Staples (Breakers)  def  Sheena Black, Judy King (Ettalong Mem)

Michelle Treadwell, Gail Sheehan (Munmorah Utd) def  Eileen Martin, Dianne McInnes (Halekulani)

FINAL:   Carol & Susan  versus  Michelle & Gail.    The ladies from Munmorah started off well but Carol & Susan caught up and from then on it was a very close game with the lead changing by 1 or 2 shots then they would be level again.   Going into the last end Carol & Susan had a 1 shot lead. However Michelle & Gail were holding 3 shots with one bowl to be played by Susan.   She played an absolute great bowl to pick up the jack and get the shot.   What a tremendous game of bowls between these four ladies and congratulations to them all.      Well done to Carol & Susan who will now proceed to the Region 6 playoffs against Lake Macquarie District winners.    Sunday 26th – Monday 27th October (draw yet to be completed).  We wish them good bowling.
